1938	April 8 : Established as Tohoku Metal Industries Co., Ltd Tohoku Metal Industries Co., Ltd. at its foundation
1938	Commercialized sendust powder magnetic core, based on the discovery of Dr. Hakaru Masumoto and Dr. Tatsuji Yamamoto (pictured left) of Tohoku University. Commercialized TKS magnet (KS steel), based on the discovery of Dr. Kotaro Honda (pictured right) of Tohoku University.
1956	Commercialized Mn-Zn ferrite core.
1959	Commercialized Ni-Zn ferrite core.
1960	Commercialized tantalum solid electrolytic capacitor J series (metal case hermetic seal type).
1962	Commercialized electromagnet (magnetron). Commercialized PZT (lead zirconate titanate vibrator).
1964	Nephelite awarded Okochi Memorial Production Prize (jointly with NEC Corporation).
1971	Commercialized SmCo magnet.
1976	Awarded Ichimura Prize and the first Inoue Harunari Award for thermolite.
1981	Commercialized Memoalloy®, the world’s first omnidirectional shape-memory.
1982	Commercialized Super Capacitor. Commercialized calling card.
1983	Established Tokin EMC Engineering Co., Ltd.
1985	Commercialized multilayer piezoelectric actuator.
1988	Changed company name to TOKIN Corporation. Established a manufacturing facility in Thailand.
1994	Commercialized world’s first conductive polymer tantalum condenser, the NeoCapacitor PSN series.
1994	Established a manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China.
1995	Commercialized Flex Suppressor®.
1997	Established a manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
2002	Integrated with NEC’s electronic component business and changed name to NEC TOKIN Corporation.
2008	Developed, commercialized and promoted international standardization of measurement method of noise suppression sheet. Awarded Contribution Prize of the 40th Ichimura Prizes in Industry.
2009	Promoted practical use of low-loss and high-current choke coil using metallic glass material “SENNTIX”. Won the 57th Electrical Science and Engineering Promotion Award.
2011	Commercialized small and high-sensitivity surface mount pyroelectric infrared sensor with high sensitivity.
2012	Commercialized piezoelectric acoustic receiver for smartphones.
2013	Formed capital and business alliance with KEMET Corporation, an electronic device manufacturer based in the United States.
2014	Commercialized high-permeability, high-impedance Mn-Zn ferrite (S18H).
2015	Commercialized highly permeable, high-flux density magnetic substance (Senfoliage).
2017	Changed name to TOKIN Corporation. Fully integrated with KEMET Corporation.
2018	April 8 : 80th anniversary of our foundation.
